Welcome to this Training Course in Operational Obstetrics & Gynecology. It is designed to add to your knowledge of the health care of women, particularly in operational settings where resources may be limited.

After registering for the course, you may begin immediately on your assignments. Each of the six assignments involves reading a portion of the textbook (usually about 35-40 pages), and then answering questions from that reading. The answers to the test questions are always available in the textbook, and the test is "open-book." That is, if you can't remember the answer it is perfectly acceptable to look it up in the book before answering the question.

Each assignment is designed to take between one and two hours to complete, although some people can read and answer questions faster than others. Speed in completing this course is not important...understanding the material is important. Please take as much time as you need in completing the assignments. However, once you begin the course, you must complete it within 120 days in order to obtain credit. If you need additional time, notify NSHS Portsmouth.

After all assignments are completed,  return the answer sheets in a single batch to the Naval School of Health Sciences. The passing score for each assignment is 3.4. If your score on an assignment falls below 3.4, you will be notified of your score and provided a list of the questions from the test which you answered incorrectly. You should re-take the test and re-submit the answer sheet to obtain credit for having completed this assignment. For successfully re-submitted tests, a score of 3.4 will be recorded.

After you successfully complete the final assignment, the Naval School of Health Sciences will send you a letter, certifying that you satisfactorily completed the course. No letters will be sent before completion.

This course has been granted 12.0 AMA Category I Continuing Medical Education credit hours by the Naval Health Sciences Education and Training Command.
